Eyes in Shanghai 5/9/19

I was back to my hometown in May. When I wandered around, some designs caught my attention.

001

I took a picture of the post, at the entrance of a neighborhood, with 崋福新邨 as its name on it.

I love the typeface, the golden color, and how the characters were engraved.

It’s a perfect design that the green telephone was aside, although I don’t know if it’s a coincidence. Imagine that there was only gold, this scene would be a little lame. But with that touch of green, it looked very old-fashioned.

002

It’s a picture of a store called ‘Tomorrow’. Love the designers put something interesting on the window. ‘Tomorrow’ wanted to get out of a regular square and as it squeezed and jumped, the square was tilted. Hope that works!

I was also attracted to the yellow arrow saying ‘ENTRANCE TO TOMORROW’.

Coincidentally, that yellow and black guiding board on the wall echoed with the yellow and black barriers on the street, which you can see in the first pictures.

003

I don’t know what it is. Probably a working station?

I love the blue windows over the creamy white wall. The bottom of the wall was painted in light blue. Good theme color to learn!

004

It’s a fancy and luxurious place for hosting events and serving expensive meals.

There is no name on it. What people know is “357”, which is the street address.

Golden numbers on black facade create an elegant and mysterious atmosphere. No wonder that I opened the door and had a look at what it was.

005

The logo design was quite interesting. When I saw the wooden background, it felt like an outdoor gig store. But… it’s a cafe (yeah I saw the seats outside)!

I didn’t understand the design until I googled ‘tartine’. Tartine means a slice of bread with toppings. And that’s why the logo was shaped like a tartine. Without the context, I interpreted the shape as a surfing board.

006

I forgot where I took the picture. I really appreciate that the designer(s) used light to bring a subtly noble feeling to the place.

007

A unique window design. Brand identity expressed in the definition on the window.
